If you ever found yourself grooving alongside Doc McStuffins, busting moves with Vampirina, or watching your toddler absolutely lose it over Roadster Racer Mickey’s entrance—then you know Disney Junior Play & Dance! wasn’t just a show. It was a pint-sized party with a whole lot of heart.
Disney Junior Play & Dance! officially opened its doors in August 2020 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in the Animation Courtyard. Designed as a high-energy replacement for the former Disney Junior – Live on Stage, it traded puppets for party lights and gave kids a chance to dance with their favorite characters in real time.
The attraction had a brief closure in May 2025, making way for the limited-time “Get Animated!” dance party, which ran from May 27 to September 24, 2025. While fans hoped for a comeback, Disney confirmed that Disney Junior Play & Dance! would permanently close on September 25, 2025, as part of the Animation Courtyard’s transformation into The Walt Disney Studios area.
This wasn’t just a meet-and-greet—it was a full-on celebration. Here’s what guests loved:
- Live DJ spinning kid-friendly beats and show tunes
- Bubble effects and interactive lighting to keep the energy high
- Character appearances from:
- Doc McStuffins (with her signature dance cure!)
- Vampirina (vamp-tastic moves included)
- Timon (yes, that hula dance made an appearance)
- Fancy Nancy (bringing the flair)
- Roadster Racer Mickey Mouse (Hot Dog Hills represent!)
The soundtrack was a mashup of Disney Junior hits and custom dance mixes. Expect to hear:
- “I Feel Better” – Doc McStuffins
- “We Got the Beat” – Vampirina
- “Hot Dog Dance” – Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
- “Rockin’ the Roadster Racers” – Mickey and the Roadster Racers
- “Timon’s Hula” – inspired by The Lion Guard
Each segment was timed to let kids jump, twirl, and giggle their way through a 20-minute show that felt like a preschool rave (in the best way possible).
Though Disney Junior Play & Dance! has taken its final bow, its legacy lives on in the giggles, bubbles, and dance moves of every kid who got to boogie with Mickey. Whether you’re logging it in your Disney calendar or reminiscing with a playlist, this attraction deserves a spot in the Hall of Wholesome Fun.
