Opening June 1998, in the Downtown area of Walt Disney World, Disney Quest was an 100,000 square foot indoor theme park featuring a host of games, attractions, small rides, and restaurants. The property spanned 5 floors and included Disney themed attractions such as a Virtual Jungle Cruise, Aladdin’s Magic Carpet Ride, and the Pirates of Caribbean Battle for Buccaneer Gold.

In early 2015, as a result of new Florida legislation that could potentially result in problems for Disney, all games that featured a prize redemption of some sort were removed. While not a huge impact, this move was ultimately viewed as an early sign of changes on the horizon for the property.

In June of 2015 it was announced that Disney Quest would be closed in 2016 to make way for a new NBA themed attraction. After operating for almost the entire year, with no further details on the pending closure, it was announced in November 2016 that the property would remain open into 2017. Finally, on July 2, 2017, Disney Quest closed its doors forever.
