Debuting on October 1, 2019, The EPCOT Experience was a multimedia showcase housed inside the Odyssey Events Pavilion, designed to immerse guests in the past, present, and future of EPCOT. At its heart was a 360-degree film presentation, featuring state-of-the-art projection mapping, synchronized lighting, and layered sound effects. The film was narrated by Dame Judi Dench, who also famously voices the narration for Spaceship Earth, lending a familiar and dignified tone to the experience.
The circular theater surrounded guests with floor-to-ceiling screens, while a central model of EPCOT was dynamically illuminated to highlight different areas of the park as they were discussed. The presentation celebrated EPCOT’s legacy and teased upcoming transformations, including Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Journey of Water – Inspired by Moana, and updates to World Celebration and World Showcase. Outside the theater, guests could explore interactive exhibits, concept art, attraction posters, and display cases featuring memorabilia and future plans.
The EPCOT Experience quickly became a fan favorite, praised for its visual impact, clarity of storytelling, and ability to generate excitement for the park’s ambitious overhaul. It remained open until March 14, 2022, when it was closed to make way for new activations within the Odyssey Pavilion. Though temporary by design, the exhibit played a key role in helping guests understand and connect with EPCOT’s evolving identity during a major period of transformation.
