The Seas Pavilion opened at EPCOT on January 15, 1986, originally sponsored by United Technologies until 1998. Its centerpiece was The Living Seas, which began with a film and hydrolators that transported guests to Seabase Alpha, a futuristic underwater research station. Inside, guests explored massive saltwater tanks, exhibits, and interactive displays about ocean life. Over time, the pavilion evolved, with the hydrolators and original film removed, and in 2007 it was re‑themed as The Seas with Nemo & Friends, featuring a new ride and characters from Pixar’s Finding Nemo. Despite the changes, the pavilion has remained a showcase for marine environments and conservation.
