Opening in February 2017, Rivers of Light was the first nighttime show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Located on the Discovery River, with show seating in Asia, the show featured mist screens similar to those used in Fantasmic, a myriad of water and light effects, floating lanterns and boats, and for a brief time, live performers.
In May 2019, a revised version of the show debuted titled “Rivers of Light: We Are One.” Largely the same, the new show now featured the addition of animals from Disneynature Films, as well as animated characters. To accompany the new visuals, the soundtrack of the show was modified to include a weaving in of familiar Disney music.
In July 2020, after a lengthy closure of the parks due to COVID-19, it was announced that Rivers of Light would not be returning.
