Though it still exists today and is indeed quite popular, Star Tours wasn’t always the attraction guests see today. Opening in December of 1989, the motion simulator attraction used a hydraulic system to make guests believe they were truly riding along in the cockpit of a Starspeeder on a tour of Endor.

In September of 2010, the original Star Tours closed to undergo a lengthy refurbishment and become “Star Tours: The Adventures Continue.” The ride system was replaced including improved motion simulation technology as well as high-definition video and screens. The new attraction opened in May of 2011 with a completely new queue and preshow area as well as a new randomized show experience.
