An opening day restaurant at The Land Pavilion, The Good Turn debuted with EPCOT Center on October 1, 1982. Its name was a clever nod to the fact that the entire dining area slowly rotated, offering guests exclusive views of the Listen to the Land boat ride below as they enjoyed their meals.
Originally sponsored by Kraft, the restaurant featured a menu focused on fresh, sustainable ingredients, many of which were grown in the pavilion’s own greenhouses. The rotation was subtle—completing a full turn roughly every hour—allowing diners to experience scenes of rainforest, prairie, and farmhouse settings from the attraction below.
- May 14, 1986 – The restaurant was renamed Land Grille Room, reflecting a shift toward a more upscale, grill-focused menu.
- November 15, 1993 – With Nestlé taking over sponsorship of The Land Pavilion, the restaurant reopened as the Garden Grill Restaurant, featuring a refreshed menu and a new character dining experience.
Today, Garden Grill remains a beloved dining spot, offering:
- Chip & Dale’s Harvest Feast character dining
- Seasonal dishes featuring ingredients grown in the pavilion’s greenhouses
- Rotating views of the Living with the Land scenes (formerly Listen to the Land)
It’s one of the few remaining pieces of EPCOT that still embodies the original spirit of edutainment, blending agriculture, sustainability, and storytelling—all while slowly turning.
