Wonders of Life

Sponsored By: MetLife (1989-2001)

Located in Future World East, The Wonders of Life pavilion was the last pavilion to be added to Future World (with the exception of Mission: SPACE after the Horizons demolition). It featured shows, attractions, and exhibits that focused on health, medicine, healthy eating and the human body.

Unlike other Future World pavilions, the Wonders of Life didn't undergo refurbishment but rather an odd combination of internal demolition and abandonment. The pavilion closed and reopened later seasonally. Its space is now used for special events such as the Epcot Food & Wine Festival, however, many of the original attraction spaces like Body Wars and Cranium Command which used theater areas were left abandoned behind locked doors. For more information on the "erasure" of the pavilion, I recommend a great article on Yesterland here!

On February 21, 2019, it was announced that the Wonders of Life pavilion would finally be getting some love, becoming a pavilion dedicated to "play." Zach Riddley, Walt Disney Imagineering, said of the new space: “This innovative, new pavilion is beyond anything we’ve ever created and is completely unique to Epcot. Built on the power of play, it introduces an immersive and interactive ‘city’ where you can explore, create, and interact with some of your favorite Disney characters. This is an experience worthy of our bold vision for Epcot – and another signature element of our transformation.”
