Rafiki’s Planet Watch opened on April 22, 2001, as a conservation-focused land accessible only by the Wildlife Express Train. Centered around the Conservation Station, it offers guests a behind-the-scenes look at Disney’s animal care facilities, including veterinary treatment rooms and interactive exhibits. The land also features the Affection Section petting zoo and has hosted experiences like the Animation Academy (2015–2018). Though quieter than the park’s thrill-heavy areas, Planet Watch continues to highlight Animal Kingdom’s core mission of education, conservation, and care for wildlife.
