Discovery Island has served as the central hub of Disney’s Animal Kingdom since the park’s opening on April 22, 1998. Anchored by the iconic Tree of Life, the land connects all other areas of the park while offering its own attractions such as It’s Tough to Be a Bug! and the Discovery Island Trails. Over the years, Discovery Island has grown with additions like Flame Tree Barbecue and the colorful Adventurers Outpost (2013), making it both a gathering place and a showcase of the park’s dedication to animals and storytelling.
