Animation Courtyard opened at Disney–MGM Studios in 1989 as the home of Walt Disney Animation Florida, where guests could watch real animators at work and explore exhibits about the art of animation. Its centerpiece was the Magic of Disney Animation tour, which combined film segments with a behind‑the‑scenes look at the animation process. Over time, the courtyard expanded to include attractions like Playhouse Disney Live on Stage and later Disney Junior Dance Party, as well as character meet‑and‑greets. Though the animation studio closed in 2004, the courtyard remains a hub for family entertainment, continuing to celebrate Disney characters and storytelling.
