Streets of America opened with Disney–MGM Studios in 1989 as part of the Backlot, designed to resemble cityscapes from New York and San Francisco. Guests could wander through the facades, which served as sets for productions and backdrops for attractions like the Studio Backlot Tour. Over time, the area hosted shows such as Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show and seasonal favorites like the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights. In 2017, the facades were re‑imagined as Grand Avenue, themed to a modern Los Angeles neighborhood, with Muppet*Vision 3D anchoring the area. While the original Streets of America no longer exist, the space continues to evolve, blending Hollywood set pieces with new storytelling.
